Gaming, Life, and Fun

So I guess for me it all started at the age of five. I mean have you ever tried to play Dr. Mario on a black and white TV??? Talk about a major pain in the ass. There is no doudt that video games have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Ah the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) now that was good times. Sitting up at night until your eyes are getting ready to roll back in your head trying to beat the original Mario Brothers.... There wasn't anything super about that game but it was so much fun at the time. I don't think there was anything quite as demeaning than having that stupid dog hop up laughing and pointing at you if you miss the stupid ducks on the screen (thank god for point blank range).

Then there was the Super Nintendo, I got it for Chistmas (after "someone" in the family opened up the box to play it before me) and man was I excited. Better graphics and games, no more blowing into those stupid cartridges to get them to work. The super nintnedo led the way with its six button controller and made gaming enjoyable for me again. No tittles really stick out to me on the SNES except for Super Punch Out and of course the Mario games. After a few years of the SNES I was still just as happy as could be, things seemed great but then it all changed.

Growing up I wouldn't call us poor, we didn't have the best things in the world but we were happy. My cousins were the first ones in the family to take gaming to a whole new level. One year for my older cousins birthday they recieved the Playstation. I was in aw at home the game used CD's and not cartridges. Who would have thought that games could actually have movie sequences? I tried to go over to there house as much as possible so that I could play there games and we always had so much fun doing so.

Now lets fast forward a few years (quite a few actually) I find myself working for a large chain of video game stores but still having my passion for gaming. I see people everyday, young, middle aged, and hell even really old,, come into the store and share with me the same passion for video games. Video games have become the new medium for people all over the world, hell did you know that while your playing online you could be playing with people from the UK or even western Asia? Games are more than that, actually they should be renamed something completely else. Video entertainment maybe? Not sure but hey no matter how you slice it i'll still love them. :)
